About
E.M. Hilt Art
Erin is an artist who grew up in Northern Wisconsin. Growing up on wooded acres in Minocqua, WI, Erin spent her childhood outdoors, where the flora and fauna became her first muses. Wildlife observations, acorn and rock collecting, and frog hunting wove a tapestry of memories that continue to shape her artistic themes.
Formally educated at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Erin initially pursued a degree in fine art but shelved her artistic ambitions due to the shadows of an abusive relationship. Rising from adversity, she resumed the pursuit of her passion, predominantly specializing in oil paints, acrylics, soft pastels, colored pencils, and recently, woodworking.
Erin’s creations unfold as portraits of women adorned with motifs of flora, bugs, and birds. This amalgamation of elements mirrors her childhood surroundings, and her love for nature. Delving into self-exploration, Erin also weaves in narratives of healing from abuse and embracing her identity.
In 2022, Erin participated in ArtPrize in Grand Rapids, MI. The exhibited piece, a blend of woodworking and oil paints, tackled themes of stifling relationships and the exploration of identity. This marked a significant chapter in her artistic journey, merging personal growth with creative expression.
Erin is currently immersed in a collection of self-portraits, exploring healing, and the intersection of identity and sexuality. The art resonates with the divine feminine.
Through the strokes of oil, the hues of acrylics, and the intricate cuts of woodworking, Erin invites viewers to embark on a journey through her multifaceted world.
